Survey, remediation, demolition and building and residential development 'De Molenaer' Westzaan
In the picturesque ribbon village of Westzaan, in the middle of the characteristic Zaanse peat meadow area, BPD Ontwikkeling BV is developing the new construction project 'De Molenaer'. The plan fits seamlessly with the rich Zaanish history: homes in recognizable Zaanish style with pointed roofs, wooden facades and traditional colors.
The project is being built in two phases. Phase 1 on the north side has now been completed and successfully delivered. In 2020, BPD started the development of Phase 2 on the former business site at Zuideinde 89. For many years, this site was home to, among others, a wood storage and processing company, a transport company and several small trading companies. However, this activity left its mark: the soil became contaminated with mineral oil and heavy metals.
To make housing construction possible, the site was thoroughly tackled. Verhoeve took responsibility for the complete subsurface process: from research and soil remediation to demolition and preparing the site for construction and housing. Thanks to this integral approach, the area could be prepared for the construction of 26 new homes. These homes, part of Phase 2, have all been sold and are currently under construction.
